The objective of this course is to acquaint you with the principals and methods of creating 2D graphics on a computer. Starting with graphic primitives such as points, lines and polygons we will explore the nature of graphic elements, the essence of composition, the design of static graphic elements and layouts and the dynamic creation of graphic forms and generative art.
By the end of this course, students:
The course will engage students with both theory and practice through lecture modules and hands on studio sessions. Students will pursue individual objectives and assignments but will collaborate in in-class exercises, blog writing and critique sessions.
Student assessment will be through 4 individual assignments that will be spread out throughout the semester each representing 25% of the overall grade for the course. Work will be assessed on the basis of the quality, complexity and creativity of the work submitted as per the individual briefs presented for each assignment.
